Jonathan has been busy

Sorry that we have been so delinquent in updating the blog....we have been pretty busy around here. Kim has been feeding, Peter has been changing diapers and Jonathan has been putting up the Christmas lights. We are really thrilled with how he is advancing.

In other Jonathan news, we had a wonderful visit
from Great-Grandma Kiki (Kenyon) last week. It was special considering Jonathan's middle name, Jack, is in honor of her late husband, Captain Jack. We miss him terribly, but we are comforted in the fact that we know he has a better view of Jonathan up in heaven.

He has also been trying on sweet new outfits. It has been fun to see him grow.

A Picture Diary of My Day

First I wake up and thank Mom for carrying me for 40 weeks and birthing me. I tell her how much I love her and how great she is at taking care of me.
Then I hang with my Dad and Gibbs. Dad usually just stares at me while I stare at all the lights in the room. Gibbs is always there to lick me in the face in case I fall asleep or if I leave a food on my face.
Then after that really busy day I am ready to take a nap. Since I know my parents just walk around the house trying to take pictures of me, I try to strike a sweet pose before I drift off to dream about Christmas tree lights. When I wake I have this odd feeling in my belly. Since I don't know what to do, I just make funny faces until it goes away and is replaced by a wet sensation in my diaper.
A mark of a true friend is on who will tell you when you stink. Gibbs is just that friend. When I am old enough I will repay her by letting her lick the food off my face or by throwing some food off the edges of my high chair.
Luckily for me, it was time for my bath. I did great. I love the warm water and now I smell nice for my big night on the town.
I went out with my boys Plaxico, Antonio and Ahmad on Friday night, but since the darn cops got involved I can't tell you what we did and I can't post the sweet pictures I have with all my fans. The only statement I have is.....Belichick still hasn't gotten over that embarrasing loss last February, Plaxico was framed.

Jonathan meets his Great-Grandpa

The Saturday after Thanksgiving, Jonathan was lucky enough to meet his Great-Grandpa Flory (Peter's mom's dad). While there was some concern whether Great-Grandpa Flory was actually old enough to qualify for Great-Grandpa status, the records were checked and confirmed this status. Although, given that Great-Grandpa Flory could play tennis or shoot hoops with Jonathan and that the birth records from the farms of Marion, OH are not always accurate, we will have to double check these records before we start printing off t-shirts.

Grandpa was escorted down to Charlottesville, by newly titled Granduncle Bruce and 2nd cousin Blaire (who avoided the camera lens and the blog because we didn't want the paparazzi and fans to slow down the website). Grandma and Grandpa Dean also made the trip. It was a wonderful trip and Jonathan is looking forward to seeing more of the Flory family.

As you can see Jonathan had a busy busy thanksgiving. My family (the Hamblens) came to Charlottesville for Thanksgiving. Grandma Hamblen cooked more delicious food that we thought was humanly possible. Jonathan enjoyed spending time with Aunt Cindy and Uncle Andy. Jonathan was also able to help pick out our Christmas tree with Grandpa Hamblen. He also enjoyed his first stroll outside, even though mom bundled him up like we lived in the Arctic!

This Thanksgiving we had a lot to be thankful for and Jonathan was all number one on our lists! He is such a blessing and we find ourselves falling more in love with him each day! Its hard to imagine loving something this little so much!
Gibbs and Uncle Andy's new puppy, Moose, ate too much Thanksgiving food as well.

What Jonathan is doing in his spare time.

Since he can't talk yet, he needed another way to express himself. This is the way he choose to express himself and let people know what he has been doing for the past 5 days.

Jonathan would like to give credit to God for creating him, his mom for birthing him, the placenta for keeping him company in the womb, his tech support (Dad) and all his fans on facebook and blogspot.

Enjoy

Aunts and Uncle Come Visit

Over the weekend Jonathan was lucky enough to have Aunt Cindy visit on Saturday and Uncle Richie and Aunt Elizabeth visit on Sunday. We were also fortunate to have the Grandmas here to help educate us and show us the ways of child-rearing.

Still working on feeding, pooping, sleeping and growing. Although, I think he has that pooping thing down.

The last 24 hours.

First full day at home:

Feeding, pooping, sleeping, pooping, feeding, peeing, making funny facial expressions, pooping, sleeping, crying, feeding, sleeping, peeing on wall, feeding, pooping, to pediatrician (looked well, gaining weight appropriately), sleeping, feeding, meeting new cousin (Andy's new puppy, "Moose") sleeping, peeing on carpet, sleeping, pooping, test driving new swing, sleeping.

At this moment, Jonathan is getting mentally prepared for his 10pm feed.

Too bad we took away her ability, Gibbs would have been a great mother.

Jonathan comes home!

We finally got out of the hospital at 2pm today. Kim and Jonathan are doing great. No hiccups during the hospital stay, so we are very thankful. We loved the hospital experience, but we are very relieved to be home, back on our own couch, eating our own food.

I am not sure how he feels about the duck outfit, but it seemed to be a hit in the hospital lobby as the couple was wheeled out of the hospital.

I am not sure Gibbs knows the significance of that thing in Mom's arms, but I am sure she will know soon.

More pictures from the hospital stay.

JONATHAN JACK DEAN!!!

At 8:00am on 11/18/2008 the Dean family went from 2 to 3 with the addition of Jonathan Jack Dean. Weighing in at a solid 6lbs 15ozs and measuring in at 20.3 inches, Jonathan Jack will make a lasting impression on the Dean family. While Jonathan measures in like a champion, the real champion was his mother, Kim. The anesthesiologists made the night a little more interesting when informed her that they couldn't do an epidural because of her low platelet count (clotting cells in blood). But Kim did great, toughed it out and produced Jonathan after 14 hours of labor and 1.5 hours of pushing. She did it all with a great attitude and grace.
Alright, here are the pictures......
